Sensient Facility Upgrades

Project Overview

MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided construction management services and well as structural, electrical and mechanical engineering as part of a design-build contract to assist in the ribbon blender system upgrade at Sensient Technologies Corporation (Sensient) production facility in South Plainfield, New Jersey. The project included the installation of new industrial mixing equipment as well as structural, electrical and mechanical upgrades to support this equipment. This project was performed at a high security manufacturing facility with numerous security requirements for the construction team to meet.

Project Details

During the design phase of the project, MFS compiled complete designs for mechanical systems, electrical systems, structural equipment support and additional steel catwalks for equipment servicing. To ensure and integrated design, MFS provided an assessment of existing structural capacity to ensure all newly installed equipment would be safely supported as well as complete topographic survey and survey of existing utilities. All survey, assessment and design was taken into consideration in a thorough constructibility review.

MFS provided all administrative efforts for the submission of design documents to the township for construction permit approval. During the construction phase of the project MFS provided full time, on site management. On site staff performed regular construction inspections ,ensured schedule and budget control and enforced MFS QA/QC and safety program adherence. After construction was completed, MFS provided close out services including oversight for commissioning and start-up, the generation of as-built construction documents and collection and organization of all operations and maintenance manuals.
