Project Overview

MFS Construction, LLC (MFS) was contracted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary for the removal of 2,100 lineal feet of existing barbed wire fence with metal posts, site clearance, and installation of 2,100 lineal feet chain link fence, with 8 corners located over three municipalities of PR, Guayama, Salina and Cayey.

Project Details

The project consisted of the procurement and installation of galvanized metal fabric mesh wire fencing. The wire was nine (9) gauge with class 1 coating and 2” mesh opening coating no less than 1.2 oz./sq. ft. and to conform ASTM A-382 and ASTM A-116. The fence had a top 1 5/8” galvanized rails. The fabric was stretched between posts. The final fence height was 6’ from ground level to top railing. All posts were 2 ½” O.D. galvanized, 20wt., 0.095 thick and placed ten (10) feet apart. The posts were placed on 9” diameter, 14” deep 2,500psi concrete footing. The corner posts had footings of 18” deep. The removal and disposal of the premises an existing three barbed wire fence and metal posts. Clearing of an area three feet wide, 1 ½ ft. wide from both sides of the centerline. Centerline of the new fence line was delimited by the existing barbed wire fence. The clearing had a total length of approximately 2,100 feet. The clearing was composed of two sections, one of 750 feet long located on the southeast corner and another section of 1,350 feet long located on the northeast corner.

This task order was a result of MFS Construction, LLC being awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Alt/Repair Construction Services Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of real property to support the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
